All of this is done in such a way that the student is not afraid of the 'tough subject' tag that is usually associated with Physics

Resources :

Well-equipped General, Electronics, Optics, Computational and a GIS lab provide experiential learning to supplement the theoretical concepts. A vast library with 4000 books and e-resources is available under the open-access system as a ready resource for students and staff

Our Beyond Classroom Learning Environment :

The academic clubs within the department, Guest lectures, On the Spot study (OSS), field trips, internships and summer training programs are arranged periodically to enrich the programme offered to our students. Links with reputed research institutions for projects, helps the student community to expand their research career. Students are kept geared to existing community issues which can be addressed by applying classroom knowledge through our capstone Life Frontier Education (LiFE) programme in the final year of undergraduate study.

Postgraduate Curriculum :

We take special care to offer bridge courses for incoming post graduate students coming from different institutions so that they make a comfortable transition to the advanced Physics curriculum offered at our department based on the competitive CSIR-NET syllabus. Projects for PG students are very often linked with reputed research centres/universities and many have gone on to pursue their PhD degrees in these institutions.

Emphasis on Research :

Faculty members doing active research involve post-graduate students in academic and mini projects giving the students a taste of cutting-edge research methods. Being a Research department, our department facilitates and encourages the under graduate students to continue their higher education by pursuing Post Graduate and Ph.D and be lifelong learners. Over the past 5 years we have published 51 papers in reputed international journals and have produced 7 commendable Ph.D scholars.
